Uman National University of Horticulture is the oldestagrarian university in Ukraine. Its history goes back to 1844when it was the only Main School of Horticulture in thewhole Russian Empire.
Today the university is a multidisciplinary educationaland scientific center of agrarian education, which has beenconferred the IV level of accreditation. More than 5,000students study at sixuniversity faculties which include 12directions and 18 specialties. Regional university center
which unites six educational institutions of I-II levels ofaccreditation was created on the basis of the university.More than 13,000 students study at the center.
The university includes such departments as the department of pre-diploma education, center of culture and education, institute of post-diploma education and extensionservices. Doctorate and post-graduate courses providescientific degrees in seven and eighteen specialties
respectively. Seven scientific-research laboratories, aneducation-research-production department with anexperimental field, orchard, forest and 1,000 hectares offarm land function at the university.
