In almost every region of Ukraine there are unknown interesting places that are worth visiting. There are even special sites devoted to it. As the saying goes, you can travel a lot and for a long time. It is best to go on a trip alone in a car, on the way there can still be something interesting to see.
Desert near Kherson or local Sahara
30 kilometers from Kherson there is the largest desert in Europe – “Oleshkivski Sands”. Its diameter is about 15 kilometers. There are real five-meter-high sand dunes, sparse desert vegetation and even an oasis. Few people know this, but three-day tours are even organized to the desert, singing songs around the campfire and spending the night in tents. The tour costs 600 USD per person.
The climate here is still unique and different from the climate even in the Kherson. In summer, sands are heated to + 75 ° C. This in turn reduces the moisture, so the rains are not frequent.
Ukrainian Dead Sea – Biruchiy island
Biruchiy Island is a spit in the Azov Sea, which is a unique Azov-Sivash National Park. At the moment, the access to the park is limited, so the best way to get there is to take a tour at a travel agency.
The coastline resembles a tropical resort. Due to lack of tourists the shore and the whole island is very clean. The main attraction of the island is the Azov-Sivash National Park. The total area of the park is 33 thousand hectares. There are a number of deer here – they are called Biruchiy deer, and rare animals and birds can be seen at every step.
Amazing Bakota: rock monastery and Dnieper Reservoir
Not far from Kamenetz-Podolsk on the territory of the National Natural Park “Podilsky Tovtry”, there is a real piece of paradise, the area Bakota. They are so called high banks of the Dniester River, located near the cave monastery of XI-XIV century. The area is very beautiful, on the top there are spectacular views. Now this village cannot be found on the map of Ukraine. Its former residents cannot return. There, where there was once Bakota, Dniester flows today. Because of the construction of the Dniester hydroelectric complex in 1981 Bakota was excluded from login credentials.
Every year more and more people get to know about this beautiful area with high cliffs, clear water of the Dniester River and the cave monastery. One of the advantages of the Gulf is Bakota climate, which equates to the climate of Crimea, and moreover, there are no mosquitoes there.

Shatsky Lakes: holiday on Svityaz
One of the main jewels of the tourist routes of Ukraine is a group of 22 lakes in the Volyn region, “Shatsky Lakes”, which are part of the Shatsky National Nature Park. The place is located in the Volyn region, which annually becomes a summer resort for thousands of tourists not only from Ukraine, but also from Belarus and Poland.
For rest on “Shatsky lakes”, the majority of tourists choose lake Svityaz. It is a great alternative to the marine leisure. This reservoir is deeper than the Sea of Azov, and the water is clear. The lake warms up perfectly, so the swimming season is open in late May-early June. Svityaz is considered a great place for a family holiday.

Rest on the Dniester Canyon
Dniester Canyon is formed by the Dniester River and is located on the border of four regions – Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Khmelnytsky. It is one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine.

Polissya is a unique place. You will not find a cozy hostel, cafe or gift shop, but you will feel, how people lived a hundred years ago. Any stone has its own history, that is not mentioned in textbooks.
The most narrow-gauge railroad in Ukraine is going through Polissya, it overcomes every day more than a hundred kilometers through the forest and a few Polissya villages, crossing a unique wooden bridge over the Sluch river. Locals call this train “Cuckoo”.
